Joe Wildy was born In Lancaster Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland. He moved to Rodney Parade when he was an infant and continued to live there for the next twenty-one years. Joe attended St. Kevin's School on the Falls Road until he was eleven years of age after which he went on to attend St. Thomas’s School on Whiterock Road.

Joe’s interest in music began at an early age and by eleven years old he was playing accordion with his friend Michael Finnegan and together they formed a band. Sometime later Joe played accordion in bingo halls throughout Belfast and also on coach excursions to Dublin.

Joe left Belfast in his early twenties and settled in Burnley, Lancashire. It was here that he formed several business including a second-hand shop, garage and car sales, buying and selling properties and a fabric manufacturing factory called J. Wildy Textiles Limited.

As a singer Joe has achieved much success in a relatively short space of time. He worked with Geoff Lorraine for a number of years as a backing singer. Recognising Joe’s outstanding talent and potential Geoff gave him his first chance with his own show.  After Geoff retired Joe continued to work on his own show receiving help along the way from good friends such as Joe Longthorne, The Chevy’s Showband, Seamy McPeake, Che Younge and Peter Fainte. Joe is most appreciative of the help that these people have provided. He is always delighted to see them at his shows when they often call in to say "hello".

Artists with whom Joe has worked include Mick Miller, Roy Walker, Jimmy Cricket, Daniel O’Donnell, Chubby Brown, Foo-Foo Lamar, Johnny Casson, The Grumbleweeds, Freddie Star, Duncan Norville and Jeremy Beadle.

Joe has great things to say about his band ‘The Joe Wildy Showband’ directed by alto saxophonist Merv Warrington. "They are a great team, they do a superb job and of course having a band means that you must have rules and stick to them too!. Good dress sense and no drinking on stage are very important to us and naturally you must give it your best at every show" says Joe. There’s no show like a Joe show!
